Trader Joe's Cheeses #1: Toscano Black Pepper and New Zealand Sharp Cheddar

Sweet! We decided to start getting a few new cheeses each time we go to Trader Joes and I thought we'd share...

First up: Trader Joe's New Zealand Grass Fed Sharp Cheddar - aged 6-12 months

We love cheddar, but specifically, sharp cheddar! This cheese, at around $3.75 per block, isn't the sharpest cheddar we've had, but is still very pleasant. It almost has a sweetness to it - like a New Zealand Sauvignaun Blanc - and doesn't leave that bitter/dry taste in your mouth like a typical sharp cheddar.

Second up: Trader Joe's Toscano Cheese with Black Pepper

Described on the package as, "rich, creamy and coated with cracked black peppercorns," I couldn't resist :) and I must say, I've never had Toscano - and I don't know anything about it - but this cheese is a KEEPER! I can definitely agree with the rich and creamy: the first second it hits your tongue your mouth explodes with saliva and embraces the taste, which makes me think of grandma's homemade macaroni and cheese. But the peppercorns? They take the cake! It's a perfect combination. We will be serving to guests.

Try our favorite Trader Joe's crackers, the Social Snackers. We can eat them all by themselves...
